YSKC’s Virtual Concert Event

Youth Symphony of Kansas City will stream “Hear the Future Now: A Virtual Concert Event” on Sunday,
May 3 at 3 p.m. CDT. The event will be streaming at youthsymphonykc.org and on Youth Symphony’s
social media pages.
This Virtual Concert Event features never-before-seen concert footage of the Youth Symphony’s four full
orchestras from the 60th Anniversary Finale Concerts at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts, held in
May 2019.
“We, along with everyone in Kansas City and across the country, are staying safe and staying home, and
that means finding new ways to bring spirited performances by our young musicians to the community,”
said Youth Symphony Executive Director Steven Murray. “While we look forward to educating musicians
together again in person as soon as it is deemed safe to do so, we are pleased to share this performance
with the community as a reminder that the future is bright and one that is hope-filled.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related health and safety guidelines in place, Youth Symphony
suspended the remainder of its regular season in mid-March and cancelled its annual spring concerts at
the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and an East Coast Tour originally planned for June 2020. In
lieu of rehearsals, weekly musical enrichment activities have been made available online to program
participants. Youth Symphony’s annual auditions that take place in May have been postponed until the
