The Migration to Renewable Energy: Our Greener Future
The Amazon is burning. Greenland is melting. Little wonder that the United Nations has declared climate change the defining issue of our time. Reducing our carbon footprint has never been so crucial.
Join us to hear three experts survey the road map to a greener future for Kansas. We’ll discuss how we can accelerate the migration from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
Tammie Rhea, senior product manager—renewable at Evergy, outlines the utility's plans and programs to realize that greener future. She will explain how the utility and consumers can work together to expedite change. (Evergy is the result of the recent merger of KCP&L and Westar Energy).
Mark Hannifan is senior vice president of development and new initiatives with Tradewind Energy, a Kansas City-based developer of utility-scale solar and wind power projects in the United States. Hannifan will address the growing efficiency and wide proliferation of renewable energy projects and what we can expect from the continuous improvement of these technologies.
Joe Spease, president and CEO of WindSoHy, is an expert on compressed air energy storage and renewable hydrogen. He is now working with numerous federal departments and scientific agencies to commercialize long-term energy storage. Spease will talk about the crucial role such storage plays in fully realizing the potential of renewable energy sources.
