The Borgen Project Information Event
Today, roughly 736 million people still live on $1.90 or less a day around the world. This level of poverty negatively affects the ability to achieve food security, equality education, steady incomes above the poverty line, clean drinking water, and stability for those impacted. As one of the most influential nations in the world, we must do our part in fighting to end global poverty once and for all.
The Borgen Project is a nonprofit organization committed to fighting global poverty by advocating for life-saving legislation in Congress. Since 2015, they have helped 11 different bills addressing global poverty and related issues get passed in Congress. By 2019, 97 percent of Senators had met with a Borgen Project supporter at least once to discuss the role of the U.S. in ending extreme poverty around the world. Through their four pillars of action (advocate, mobilize, educate, and issue message), The Borgen Project has helped citizens to use their voice to draw support for legislation that is leading to a brighter and more sustainable future for the world.
