MILITARY OUTDOORS PROGRAM
The Kanza Sierra Club November meeting is on the day after Veteran’s day. The meeting will be devoted to a presentation on the Sierra Club’s Military Outdoors program, which organizes outdoor trips for veterans, other service members and their families with the goal of fostering mental and physical health, emotional resilience, and leadership development, while easing the transition to civilian life.
While the program has existed for several years, it is only since the beginning of 2018 that the program has had a presence in the Kansas City area through the efforts of retired Army veteran Dave Stroman, who will be our speaker. He will tell us about both the program itself and how he is working with other veterans groups to integrate Military Outdoors with other support services being made available to veterans of our Armed Forces.
