The Water We Drink: Keeping it Safe and Affordable

April 6 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

The League of Women Voters of Johnson County is hosting this discussion on April 6.

Every day we turn on a faucet in our home to get a glass of water, brush our teeth, or fill a pot to cook food. We take for granted that the water coming out of the tap is safe. But how do we know when our water is at risk? And how can we as advocates engage with government representatives to protect the quality of our water?

Join us for a discussion about the safety and affordability of clean water in Johnson County and what we need to do to keep it that way. We’ll also discuss the emerging threats to water safety, accessibility, and affordability both locally and nationally.

LWV supports water resource programs and policies that reflect the interrelationships of water quality, water quantity, groundwater and surface water and that address the potential depletion or pollution of water supplies. The organization also thinks that equity of service and costs as well as sustainability efforts are essential.
