So how’s it going out there? Anyone else vacillating wildly between sheer panic for the future and quiet enjoyment of a slower-paced lifestyle? One thing I’ve definitely appreciated is how much time I’m saving not having to get dressed and put makeup on every day (although to be honest I didn’t really do that before).
I thought I’d take some time to highlight a few things that have been working for us as a family. We’re still pretty much sticking to the schedule I outlined last week, although we haven’t been outside as much as I’d like. Luckily the weather seems to be improving, but here are some good inside and outside activities I thought I’d share:
- Daniella Ballerina is by far our 4-year-old’s favorite thing right now. She’s totally going through a ballerina phase just like our older two did, and these YouTube videos are perfect for her. At about 20 minutes a pop they’re just the right length for her to be entertained while I scream into a pillow to my heart’s content.
- We are huge library fans, but we often max out our ebooks checkouts. I know there have been lots of ebook options floating around, but so far Bookflix from Scholastic is our favorite. They have a large variety and good options and formats for different ages.
- We kicked it old school this week and painted some rocks. Take a walk, find some rocks and paint them. Add yarn hair, petal wings, whatever your heart desires. Make a little rock band family and go nuts.
- Finally, for the grown ups. If you’ve never read the Neapolitan Novels by Elena Ferrrante now is the time. They’re mesmerizing, thoughtful and long – perfect for a time when you’re stuck at home with nothing to do. HBO just started the second season of the television adaptation and I’m happy to say it’s just as lovely as the books.
What about you? What have you and your family been enjoying this week?
