Loren Davis named 2018 Westwood Foundation Merit Scholarship recipient. Loren Davis, a 2018 graduate of SM East and Westwood resident, is the recipient of the Westwood Foundation’s annual college scholarship. Mayor John Yé recognized Davis and her parents Kathleen and Michael during last week’s city council meeting. The Merit Scholarship Davis received is the largest granted by the foundation to date, and will provide $5,000 a year to Davis’s education. Davis is set to attend the University of Arkansas this fall, where she’s looking into majoring in bio-engineering. She plans to attend medical school after graduating from college. “The Foundation directors were impressed by your academic successes, community involvement and outstanding sense of volunteerism,” Yé wrote to Davis in the letter informing her that she was this year’s recipient. “The Foundation had a highly competitive turnout of Merit Scholarship applicants this year. You and your parents can be proud of your credentials and accomplishments.”
