About ShawneeMissionPost.com and our ad space

Launched in June 2010 as the Prairie Village Post and run by the husband and wife team of Jay Senter and Julia Westhoff, the Shawnee Mission Post is the only dedicated news source serving the Shawnee Mission School District area. With its focused coverage on local government, schools and business, it attracts the largest daily audience of people looking to find out what’s happening in our community.

Our ad space is designed to provide local businesses with a high visibility, high impact channel to communicate with our readers.

When you advertise with the Shawnee Mission Post, you know you’re reaching thousands of young, well-educated, affluent potential customers every month. And best of all, you know they live within just a couple of miles of your business (Trust us: People who live in other parts of the metro area wouldn’t be interested in our content…which is kind of the whole point).

What our advertisers are saying

We love getting great feedback from our readers — but we love getting great feedback from our advertisers even more. We’ve worked hard to develop an online ad and promotions inventory that really delivers results for small- and medium-sized local businesses at rates they can afford. But don’t take it from us. Listen to what just a couple of our advertisers have to say:

Chad Taylor, the Taylor Made Team — Keller Williams

“We live here, so we love working with clients in the community — and advertising on Shawnee Mission Post is the best way we’ve found to connect with northeast Johnson County residents. Just last month I got a call from a woman who had found me by reading one of my Sponsored Columns. She told me she liked the way I approached local real estate, and we listed her house a few days later! It really works for us.”

Why advertise on the web?

As newspaper circulation continues to decline, people are turning to the Internet as their primary news source. In fact, a Pew Research Center study found that the web surpassed newspapers as an information source in 2008 — and use of the internet over print newspapers has only grown since. Moreover, people who use the Web for their news tend to be younger and well educated, a sought-after demographic for small businesses.
