Johnson County Museum adds historical photos to KC library’s Pendergast site

Johnson County Museum has been working with Kansas City Public Library to upload more than 200 historic photos to the Kansas City Public Library’s digital history site.

Called Pendergast KC, the site offers thousands of images, documents, maps and articles showing the history of the Kansas City area. More details are available at pendergastkc.org.

Prairie Village commits to “Cities Race to Zero”

The city of Prairie Village committed to the United Nations-backed “Cities Race to Zero.”

The climate initiative calls on cities to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by the year 2030.  Prairie Village already does a number of things that qualify for “Cities Race to Zero,” but some city leaders say it goes beyond what the city’s goals are.

The city council approved the commitment unanimously on Monday.

Westwood to host public presentation on two Rainbow Boulevard corners

The city of Westwood and Urban Land Institute is hosting a public presentation on the future of the southwest corners 47th Street and Rainbow Boulevard and 50th Street and Rainbow.

A panel of experts will report recommendations for how to best use these spaces including retail, restaurants and housing options. The meeting on Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m. can be attended in person at Westwood city hall or via Zoom. A Zoom link can be found here.
