Prairie Village Pool prep is underway

While 2020 pool memberships are not yet available, the city is still working to prepare the pool. Prairie Village will announce when memberships are for sale and there will still be an early bird discount.

Improving property values included as Merriam budget goal for fiscal year 2021

Below are the fiscal year 2021 goals unanimously approved by Merriam’s city council in March, as outlined by city documents:

  • Enhance community identity and connections

  • Provide exceptional service delivery

  • Improve physical conditions and property values

  • Maintain economic vitality

Each goal had corresponding objectives and initiatives aimed at ensuring the city can achieve its goals and objectives:

  • Facilitate better communication between the city and its citizens, related to enhancing community identity and connections

  • Recruit and retain the best possible talent in the area, related to providing exceptional service and delivery

  • Sustain capital improvement efforts, associated with the goal of improving physical conditions and property values

  • Facilitate a public discussion about downtown development possibilities, related to the goal of maintaining economic vitality

Mission cancels city-wide garage sale, no individual garage sales permitted through April 24

The city of Mission on Thursday announced it is canceling the 2020 city-wide garage sale as to not engage in nonessential activities, according to a city of Mission tweet.

Additionally, no individual garage sales will be permitted through at least April 24.

Papa John’s purchase supports Shawnee Mission Education Foundation Cares Fund

The Shawnee Mission Education Foundation and six Papa John’s locations are teaming up to support the SMEF Cares Fund, which is anticipating an influx of donations as a result of COVID-19 impacts.

Order a Papa John’s pizza at a participating location with the promotional code CARESFUND and 20% of your order will be donated to the Cares Fund.

The promotional code CARESFUND must be entered during an online order, and “Cares Fund” must be mentioned during a phone order. The offer runs from Friday, April 3, through Friday, April 10.
