Turkey Creek Streamway Trail in Merriam closing this week for repairs.

The portion of Turkey Creek Streamway Trail between the Merriam Marketplace and Johnson Drive in Merriam will be closed to through traffic later this week, according to a city of Merriam tweet. This section will be closed on Thursday and Friday, March 5 to March 6, for erosion repairs along Turkey Creek.

Lenexa police arrest man after shots fired from Motel 6.

Lenexa police took a man into custody after investigating a report of shots fired at a Motel 6 early Monday morning. At about 3:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 9700 block of Lenexa Drive after a witness reported hearing periodic gunshots throughout the night. Officers heard more gunshots after arriving and determined the gunfire was coming from a second-floor balcony at Motel 6. At about 5:45 a.m., they took a man into custody. No injuries were reported and the investigation is ongoing.

Pothole patching continues in Johnson County this week.

The Kansas Department of Transportation will continue pothole patching in Johnson County this week, weather permitting. I-435 northbound and southbound will have various mobile lane closures from the Kansas River to K-10 for pothole patching. Work will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is expected to be completed Friday. U.S. 69 northbound and southbound will have various mobile lane closures from the Miami County line to I-35 for pothole patching.
