JCCC announces 4 finalists to replace outgoing president; forums set this week

JCCC students

Johnson County Community College on Friday announced the four finalists being considered to replace Joe Sopcich as president, and the college will be hosting forums giving faculty, staff, students and the public the chance to hear each of them speak this week.

The finalists are:

Dr. Paul R. Watson II. Watson is currently vice president for instruction at Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Mich. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Houghton College, master’s degrees from Syracuse University and the University of Rochester, and an Ed.D in educational leadership and management from Drexel University. Dr. L. Michael McCloud. McCloud is currently the vice president for academic affairs at JCCC. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State, master’s degrees from Baker University and a PhD from UMKC. You can find McCloud’s full bio here.

 

Dr. Rolando García: García is currently the Judson A. Samuels South Campus president and vice provost of academic resources at Broward College in Pembroke Pines, Fla. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and doctoral degrees from Florida International University. You can find García’s full bio here.

Dr. Andrew W. Bowne: Bowne is currently the senior vice president and chief operating officer of Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana. The institution has 18 campuses throughout the state. He holds his bachelor’s, master’s and an Ed.D degrees from Western Michigan University. You can see Bowne’s full bio here.

The college has set up a series of forums for stakeholders to hear from each candidate. The forums begin today and run through Thursday. The schedule is below:
