Shawnee Mission Daughters of the American Revolution celebrating Constitution Week Sept. 17-23. This week, Sept. 17-23, is Constitution Week, commemorating the signing of the Constitution of the United States of America. To celebrate the week, the Shawnee Mission Chapter/Kansas State Society of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is planning to pass out copies of the Constitution at schools and libraries. The local chapter will also have a display and handouts at the Antioch Library starting this afternoon.

United Community Services releases rank and review results for FY2019 HUD Continuum of Care Application. United Community Services of Johnson County has shared a newly released report indicating which six local programs that support households experiencing homelessness have received funding this year. UCS acts as Johnson County’s Continuum of Care on Homelessness’ lead agency and submits the collaborative application annually on behalf of local members. The report, KS-505’s FY2019 HUD Continuum of Care NOFA Rank and Review results, was released by Johnson County CoC’s Rank and Review Committee and Board.

Shawnee municipal court re-ups Food for Fines program. The city of Shawnee’s municipal court has started another round of Food for Fines this week. From Sept. 16 to 20, individuals with fines through the city municipal court may pay a portion of their fines with non-perishable food items. More details on the program are available on the city’s website. Fines for DUIs and driving without a seat belt are excluded from the progra.
