Briefly noted: Boy Scouts recruitment nights coming to Shawnee Mission elementaries next week

Boy Scout recruitment nights — open to both boys and girls — coming to Shawnee Mission elementaries next week. The Boy Scouts of America Heart of America Council will host recruiting nights at Shawnee Mission elementary schools next week. This is the first year that the council will open recruiting to both boys and girls. Students in grades K-5 are eligible to become new scouts. Heart of America estimates that it will recruit around 700 new scouts through the events this year.

The events will be held the following dates for Shawnee Mission schools with all events starting at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, August 21: Sunflower, Crista McAuliffe, Nieman, Shawanoe, Apache, Pawnee, Oak Park-Carpenter, Mill Creek, Rosehill, Rising Star, Trailwood, Lenexa Hills

Wednesday, August 22: Merriam Park, Westwood View, Crestview, Broken Arrow, Roesland, Bluejacket-Flint, Prairie, Highlands, Benninghoven, Ray Marsh, Rushton

Thursday, August 23: Comanche, Overland Park, Brookwood, Diemer, Briarwod, Brookridge, Corinth, Belinder, Santa Fe Trail, Tomahawk, East Antioch.
