The Merriam Aquatic Center closed for the final time earlier this week.

As the current Merriam Aquatic Center’s final swim season comes to a close, the city is hosting a pool garage sale to sell off items from the facility.

The Merriam Aquatic Center closed permanently August 5 and will be demolished to make room for the new community center on the same site. The new center will have indoor and outdoor aquatics.

The garage sale goes from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Merriam Aquatic Center, 6040 Slater St. People can “take home mementoes from the pool,” including lounge chairs, baskets, appliances, office furniture and dolphin signage. The sale will be “cash and carry only.”

Residents can also request to have a brick from the bath house reserved at no charge to pick up at the Irene B. French Community Center at a later date.
