Pride Cleaners requests rezoning of property on Johnson Drive in Roeland Park. An application to rezone 5000 Johnson Drive from an Office Building District to a Mixed Use District was introduced to Roeland Park councilmembers Monday. The application, made by Pride Cleaners, will first go through the Planning Commission, and if approved will go to the full council for deliberation at their August 6 meeting.

Roeland Park eliminates approval requirement for solar panels on homes. Roeland Park residents wanting to add a solar panel system may no longer need to go before city council for approval. Councilmembers this week removed a restriction from the city’s ordinance that requires residents to gain council approval before installing solar panels. Instead residents can get approval from the city’s building official John Jacobson. However if Jacobson determines a proposed system falls outside regular use parameters the project would still need council approval.
