Join us for Shawnee Mission Post’s Prairie Village Mayoral Candidate Forum Wednesday

Candidates (from left) Andrew Wang, Serena Schermoly and Eric Mikkelson are confirmed to participate in the forum Wednesday.

Three candidates are vying to replace outgoing Mayor Laura Wassmer as Prairie Village’s top elected leader.

And this Wednesday, Prairie Village voters will have the chance to hear the candidates address some of the biggest issues facing the city in person.

The Shawnee Mission Post’s Prairie Village Mayoral Candidate Forum will be held this Wednesday, July 18 at Colonial Church at 71st Street and Mission. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and our hour-long forum program will begin at 7:30 p.m.

All three candidates — former councilman Eric Mikkelson and current councilmembers Serena Schermoly and Andrew Wang – are confirmed to participate.

The format for the event will include brief opening and closing statements from the candidates, as well as their responses to five questions prepared in advance by the Shawnee Mission Post. We’ve developed the questions for the program based on reader input — and we’re still putting the finishing touches on, so if you’ve got suggestions about issues you’d like to hear the candidates address, let us know!

Full details on the event are here.

The top two finishers in the primary election will advance to the general election ballot this fall.
