The Pizzeria Locale location in a pad site outside Oak Park Mall in Overland Park has shut down, part of a string of closures as the national company looks to refocus on more successful locations.
The Oak Park Mall spot, at the intersection of 95th Street and Quivira, was the restaurant’s third location in the Kansas City metro, and opened in August 2016. All three KC area Pizzeria Locales — the Oak Park restaurant plus restaurants at Corbin Park in southern Overland Park and at 75th and Wornall in Waldo — closed last week.
The closures were part of a move by parent company Chipotle to revamp its marketing and eliminate underperforming operations. The company will be shutting as many as 65 restaurants nationwide.
Pizzeria Locale featured traditional Neapolitan pizzas made to order in 900-degree pizza ovens.
