East Antioch Elementary is among the schools closed to transfers this year due to high enrollment.
The Shawnee Mission School District will begin accepting transfer applications for students who wish to attend a school outside their home attendance area for the 2018-19 school year.
Siblings of current in-district transfer students will receive priority consideration.
The district will review in-district transfer requests first.
Remaining transfer requests are considered in the order they are received.
Because of shifted attendance areas and high enrollment, 12 elementary schools will not be accepting transfer students next year. They are:
ApacheIS
Briarwood
Broken Arrow
Christa McAuliffe
Corinth
East Antioch
Mill Creek
Overland Park
Rhein Benninghoven
Rising Star
Shawanoe
Sunflower
The transfer application link on the district’s website went live at 8 a.m. today. The district requests that applications be submitted electronically before the deadline of 5 p.m. on April 30. Families without internet access may submit a paper application. Paper applications are available in the Office of Instructional Leadership at the Center for Academic Achievement.
The district anticipates being able to inform families of the decision on their transfer requests by June 15.
