Former Kansas City, Kan., Mayor Carol Marinovich endorses Tom Niermann in congressional race. Carol Marinovich, who served as mayor of Kansas City, Kan., from 1995-2005, on Wednesday endorsed Prairie Village teacher Tom Niermann in the race for the Democratic nomination for the area’s congressional seat.  “Tom Niermann is not like other politicians – he’s a real member of the middle class, who at times has worked three jobs to support his family,” she said in the announcement. “I know that if we send Tom to Congress, the people of Wyandotte County will again have a representative working hard to create opportunity, and improve their lives.” Niermann this week also picked up the endorsement of several Shawnee Mission-area city officials, including Merriam City Councilman Al Frisby, Overland Park City Councilman Logan Heley, Roeland Park City Councilwoman Jen Hill, and Mission City Councilwoman Hillary Parker Thomas.
