One of Hudson/Hawk’s Springfield locations. The company will open a new store at Corinth Square in Prairie Village next week.

A Springfield, Mo.,-based barber will open its first Kansas location next Monday here in northeast Johnson County.

Hudson/Hawk Barber & Shop plans to debut at Corinth Square in Prairie Village Feb. 12. The shop, which offers men’s haircutting and grooming services as well as men’s grooming products for sale, will be in the space next to Made in KC, where Sole Patch operated until last October.

Hudson/Hawk has four locations in Springfield and one in Westport. This will be its first shop outside the state of Missouri. It opened its first location in 2013.

The company’s founders, Thad Forrester and Paul Catlett, say they’ve worked to foster an atmosphere that balances the modern style and design with traditional barbershop culture.

“We work hard to balance tradition with what’s current, and that balance attracts men of all ages to our shops,” Forrester said in a release. “We like to say that we are a barber shop for all generations.”

Catlett said the goal is to create a space where there’s “conversation that is suitable for a grandfather to sit next to his grandson for a haircut.”

Among the services offered at the new shop will be: haircuts, straight razor shaves, waxing, beard grooming, hot lather neck shaves and vibrating shoulder massages.
