Northeast Johnson County morning roundup

Jeff Colyer, seen here addressing the Northeast Johnson County Conservatives in 2016, is the 47th governor of Kansas.

Bollier says she’s hoping for more collaboration between legislature, governor’s office with Colyer sworn in. Leawood plastic surgeon and Sam Brownback’s gubernatorial running mate in 2010 and 2014 Jeff Colyer on Wednesday was sworn in as the 47th Governor of Kansas following Brownback’s departure for the Trump administration. Colyer has promised a change in the relationship between the executive office and the legislature, which has been contentious in recent years. Sen. Barbara Bollier of Mission Hills told the Topeka Capital-Journal she hopes that’s a promise he keeps. “What I would like to see brought back to the Statehouse from Gov. Colyer is a willingness and an eagerness to work together rather than the ‘my way or the highway,’” Bollier told the paper.
