Folks: What with the weather being so pleasant this weekend, we hit the neighborhood for a family walk. We found ourselves making our way up 71st Terrace west of Tomahawk, where we couldn’t resist the call of the beautiful camper-themed Little Free Library posted by the sidewalk.
There was something for everyone. Olivia, who has her first sleepover scheduled for this weekend, paged through a book called “My First Sleepover.” Daisy, who spends hours a day drawing, building and pasting, decided it was time to broaden her artistic horizons and learn about the artists of China and Mongolia:
And li’l Junie found herself drawn to a sturdy volume on the color wheel (which she has yet to destroy!):
Anyway, the successful outing reminded us of an elemental fact: Little Free Libraries are awesome.
And we want to encourage more people around here to use them.
With that in mind, we’re setting out to map every Little Free Library in the Shawnee Mission area. We’ve set up a Google Map (embedded below) where we’ll document every Little Free Library we can.
But we need your help!
If you’ve got a Little Free Library in your yard — or if you know of one in your neighborhood — we’re hoping you’ll either add it to the map yourself (you can get into an editable view by clicking here or the “view larger map” icon in the upper right hand below), or send us details on its location by emailing us here. Photos are encouraged!
