Shawnee police searching for shooter who wounded 19-year-old woman Wednesday afternoon

Shawnee_PoliceShawnee Police were out in force in the Mill Creek neighborhood around 63rd Street and Pflumm Wednesday afternoon searching for the person who shot a 19-year-old woman.

Police received the report of the shooting around 3 p.m., and arrived on the scene to finds the woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel transported her to an area hospital for treatment.

Based on information they gathered, police conducted a thorough search of the Cottonwood Park Apartments at 63rd Street and Cottonwood as the attempted to locate the suspect. They closed of some of the roads in the area during the search. Just before 5 p.m., the department announced on Twitter that it believed the suspect had left the area. Police reopened the roads.

“We did not locate the suspect in the area and Detectives are investigating,” said Maj. Sam Larson of the Shawnee Police in a release. “If you have information about this shooting please call the TIPS Hotline 816-474-TIPS (8477) or the Shawnee Police Department at 913-631-2150.”
