Next year will mark the 60th season of high school theatre performances from SM East’s theatre department. And the school’s theatre boosters are asking alumni to help support the continued excellence of the program with small plaques commemorating present and past students and performers.

The “Legacy Seats” program allows theatre patrons to have a custom plaque crafted for a seat in the Dan Zollars Auditorium at the school.

“From those seats, thousands of students, faculty and community have enjoyed the performing arts, gathered as a community and honored East’s best and brightest. They have heard life changing words, beautiful music and have been drawn into memories being made on the stage,” said the organizers in a message to patrons. “With a Legacy Seat plaque, you can leave a dedication in honor of a student, graduate, friend, teacher or in remembrance of those who are no longer with us.”

Legacy Seat plaques run from $100 to $500 depending on the seat’s placement in the auditorium. Funds raised through the initiative will be used for maintenance and improvements in the auditorium as well as the purchase of new stage equipment.
