Chuck Matney has more space to craft his floral arrangements in the rush leading up to Mother’s Day this year.

Two-and-a-half years after Leslie Brett and Matney opened the Little Flower Shop in Westwood Hills, they’ve branched out to expand their operations into the space next door that used to be the home of The Little Gallery Frame Shop. Brett and Matney’s new The Little Shop Next Door now holds the business’s lineup of clothing, jewelry, accessories, hostess gifts, and more. The original space, which is accessible through an open passage from the new store, has been reconfigured to provide more work space for the floral arrangement operation as well as a new flower cooler.

Opened in late April, the expansion nearly triples the size of the stores.

“It’s given us space to add a few more lines, baby items and gifts we didn’t have before,” Brett said. “And we’ve even got a dressing room now. We’re thrilled to be able to have more of everything.”

It took about two-and-a-half months to complete the renovations on the frame store to ready it for its new use.

Brett said the shop will deliver flowers on Mother’s Day as it has in years past, but encourages people to call ahead.

“It’s a huge flower week,” she said.
