Shawnee Mission East grad Chase Hanna wins Big XII individual title. University of Kansas senior and Shawnee Mission East graduate Chase Hanna on Tuesday secured the Big XII individual golf title, edging out the University of Texas’s Scottie Scheffler over the final holes at Prairie Dunes Golf Course. Hanna’s individual title also helped propel his Jayhawks team to a third place league finish. KCATA’s ride hailing service pilot project debuts in parts of northeast Johnson County Monday. The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority on May 1 will begin piloting a new app-based ride hailing service that some northeast Johnson County residents will have the opportunity to try. The service, called RideKC Freedom On-Demand, allows people to schedule a ride via an app on their phone. The area south and east of I-35 and north of 75th Street is the only part of Johnson County that is part of the pilot. Americans with Disabilities Act-eligible riders and seniors get a significant discount on the full rate, which is $10 for the first five miles and $2 for every mile after that.

Fairway hosting drug take-back event Saturday. Fairway will be holding a drug take-back event this Saturday, April 29 at the Fairway Shops Hen House, 2724 W. 53rd Street. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., people can come by and dispose of unused or unwanted prescription drugs. There are no questions asked and no papers to fill out. A police officer will be on site for security purposes.

Lady Lancers bounce back with win over Olathe North. The SM East girls soccer team emerged from a rough stretch Tuesday with a 3-1 win over Olathe North. Karoline Nelson netted the first goal of the night on an assist from sophomore Izzy Rapp. Freshman Emma Burden’s cross to Emily Cooper, who punched the ball into the goal, made it 2-0. And junior Maddie Muther’s shot from 12 yards out gave the Lancers their final score of the night. The Lancers head to Burlington, Iowa, today for a weekend tournament.
