The Shawnee Mission Board of Education has called a special meeting for this Wednesday, April 26, for consideration of the appointment of an interim superintendent for the 2017-18 school year.
The agenda does not name any potential candidates for the interim role.
The agenda for the special meeting also calls for the board to discuss the process for the search for a full time replacement for the departing Jim Hinson. At its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, the board accepted Hinson’s resignation, which will be effective June 30.
Deputy Superintendent Kenny Southwick, who joined the district in 2014, conducted portions of Monday’s board of education meeting in the Hinson’s unexplained absence, delivering the superintendent’s report and introducing action items for consideration.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the McEachen Administrative Center.
