Merriam police this morning are asking for the public’s assistance in gathering information about the overnight burglary of a firearms distributor and manufacturer.

Merriam Public Information Officer Darren McLaughlin said officers responded to the scene of the burglary at Signature Manufacturing in the 9800 block of W. 67th Street after an alarm went off around 2:30 a.m. The company, a federally licensed firearm manufacturer which also sells guns wholesale, works with a variety of products, from pistols to shotguns to assault rifles. In addition to fully operational guns, the company sells individual firearm components.

McLaughlin said the company is still conducting an inventory to determine what was taken, but noted that several guns were confirmed missing.

Anyone with information about the burglary should call law enforcement at 913-782-0720.
