Two Shawnee Mission students named semi-finalists in KC SuperStar 2017 competition. Two Shawnee Mission students are among the two dozen young performers to advance to the semi-final round of this year’s KC SuperStar singing competition. Shawnee Mission East freshman Aggie Williams and junior Savanna Worthington will join the other semi-finalists in competition Monday, June 5 at the White Theatre at the Jewish Community Center. The competition, which raises money for The J, awards the ultimate winner with a $10,000 scholarship.

Start of construction on The Vue prompts changes to downtown OP traffic patterns. With crews having broken ground on The Vue in downtown Overland Park, motorists will notice a few changes to traffic patterns in the vicinity of the construction site. Part of Floyd Street will be northbound only before 80th Street, and part of Marty Street will be southbound only. A visual of the traffic patterns can be found here.
Body found in Kansas City, Mo., woods was that of Merriam man missing since December. Kansas City police this week confirmed that the body found by a search party looking for Jessica Runions, a missing woman from Raymore, in late January belonged to Dante Jamal Jefferson, who was living with his mother in Merriam at the time of his disappearance. Police issued a notice in January asking the public for information about Jefferson’s whereabouts.
