Mission Project sets date for 10th annual Run for the Roses Kentucky Derby Gala. The Mission Project, a non-profit organization that works to help adults with developmental or cognitive disabilities live more independent lives, in May will host the tenth installment of its annual Kentucky Derby party. The Run for the Roses Gala will be held Saturday, May 6 from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at Lake Quivira Country Club. The event will be co-hosted by Roeland Park native Deidre Pujols and her daughter Isabella. Deidre and her husband Albert will be hosting event sponsors at a private suite at The K April 16. You can find more information about the event here.

NEJC natives featured in K-State SpringDance 17 showcase. A handful of talented performers from northeast Johnson County will be among the featured artists in Kansas State University’s SpringDance 17 showcase. Johnson County natives performing in the production include: Alyssa Klein, sophomore in pre-professional elementary education; Tiffani Lawrence, senior in secondary education-English and theatre; Glenna Vano, sophomore in psychology; Hannah Yeoman, senior in fisheries, wildlife and conservation biology; Allison Griffin, junior in psychology; and Abbey Sommerauer, junior in English.

Overland Park Police conducting DUI Saturation Point Friday. Mission won’t be the only city conducting DUI checks this weekend. The Overland Park Police Department will be conducting a DUI Saturday Point from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. tonight in an effort to discourage driving under the influence and reduce alcohol-related accidents.
