Sunday morning fire at Villa Medici Apartments damages townhouse unit. Firefighters from Overland Park, Consolidated Fired District No. 2 and Leawood responded to a fire Sunday at about 10 a.m. in the 5300 Block of W. 96th St. at the Villa Medici Apartments. The three residents of the townhouse were evacuated and the fire was contained to the basement area. There were no injuries but there was fire damage to the basement and smoke damage throughout the residence. Firefighters believe the fire started in a personal sauna unit.

Bishop Miege coach earns milestone victory. Terry English, who has coached the Lady Stags for 40 seasons, earned win No. 800 on Friday night as Bishop Miege rolled McPherson, 62-45. Bishop Miege is 2-0 on the year and is currently on a 62-game winning streak.
