Coaching legend Larry Brown visits Indian Hills Country Club. Larry Brown, the coach who led Kansas to the national championship in 1988, was a guest Monday at the Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills along with Tyler Cundith, sports information director for Johnson County Community College. The two were at the club for its Men’s Guest Day. Brown is the only coach to win an NCAA championship (Kansas) and an NBA title (Detroit Pistons, 2004). He coached at Kansas from 1983 to 1988 and was selected for the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002.
Mission honoring Pearl Harbor Day Wednesday. Mission will honor the 75th anniversary of the Dec. 7, 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor tomorrow with a brief memorial event at 11 a.m. The event will be held at Pearl Harbor Park located at the southeast intersection of Martway and Maple streets.
Northeast Johnson County Chamber EdgeJC holding after-hours event Thursday to benefit Horizon Academy. The EdgeJC Holiday Giveback Party will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Conroy’s Westwood, 4730 Rainbow Blvd. The party for young professionals also will provide support for its 2016 Community Partner, Horizon Academy. Attendees are asked to bring an item to donate to the school.
