Shawnee Mission East to hold Late Night Scrimmage. On Monday night, the Lancers boys and girls basketball programs will hold scrimmages for the freshman/sophomore (girls at 5 p.m., boys at 5:30 p.m.) teams followed by the junior varsity/varsity teams (girls at 6:30 p.m., boys at 7:15 p.m.). Spectrum Sports’ Mick Schaffer will introduce the varsity squads and provide play-by-play of the varsity scrimmages. Dinner will also be served for $5, which will include pizza and cookies. The proceeds will benefit the basketball programs.

The Prairie Village Police Department is welcoming residents to join them for Coffee with a Cop at Einstein Bagels, 6970 Mission Rd. on Dec. 9 at 7 a.m. It’s a chance to ask questions and learn more about how police look out for Prairie Village and Mission Hills.

Roeland Park Aquatic Center announces holiday schedule. The Roeland Park Aquatic Center will close early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve for the holidays and will be closed on Christmas Day as well as the following day. The facility at 4843 Rosewood Drive will be closed after 3 p.m. on Dec. 23, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. The center will also be closed for New Year’s on Jan. 1.

Public hearing on proposed redevelopment of old Leawood Country Club property scheduled for Jan. 10. A Leawood Planning Commission hearing on a new proposal to develop the former Leawood Country Club property with 24 single-family houses and eliminate recreational amenities contained in a previous plan has been continued to Jan. 10 at City Hall. The developer was asked by planners in November to revise the plan to conform with flood plain restrictions.
