The Christmas story will come to life for the 32nd year in a row at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village this weekend.
Starting tonight at 6 p.m., the church’s popular annual “Journey to Bethlehem” living nativity scene performances will give attendees to see scenes from the Christmas story for themselves. New journeys through the performance depart every 20 minutes through 8 p.m. Friday. The church will also be holding the event Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Southminster’s Journey features dozens of church members in roles as shepherds, travelers, peddlers and kings, all dressed in the traditional garments of ancient Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
The event is open to the public and free of charge. The choir will be leading carols in the sanctuary as groups wait for the next journey to depart.
