Shawnee Mission North High School was briefly put on lockdown Tuesday as police searched for a suspect involved in a domestic disturbance that had occurred nearby. The Prairie Village Foundation is sponsoring its Gingerbread House party this Sunday. For the eighth year, the Prairie Village Foundation is sponsoring a Gingerbread House party to raise funds to help finance summer recreation scholarships such as pool memberships for needy families. The party this year will be at the Corinth Elementary School cafeteria, 8301 Mission Rd., from 1:30- to 3 p.m. You’ll be greeted by the smell of fresh-baked gingerbread and find tables filled with pre-made gingerbread houses and lots of delicious candy and other food items to decorate them. Cost is $48 per house. Last day for reservations is Friday or until sold out. To register, go to the foundation website or City Hall.

Local sports complex named National Complex of the Year. The USSSA (United States Sports Specialty Association) honored The 3&2 Baseball Club of Johnson County as its National Complex of the Year for 2016. This is the second time USSSA has recognized 3&2 with this award; the first being in 2000. 3&2 plays host to USSSA sanctioned tournaments where close to 2400 teams participated this past year. The complex is also home for the five Shawnee Mission School District baseball teams.

Overland Park releases citation data from holiday traffic enforcement program. Overland Park was among the municipalities to participate in a Special Traffic Enforcement Program over the holiday weekend, and released data on Tuesday about the results of the effort. Overland Park officers stopped 231 vehicles between Nov. 21 and 27 as part of the effort. They issued 125 seat belt or child safety restraint violations, 16 speeding violations, and arrested five people for driving under the influence, among other actions.

Shawnee Mission East student scores perfect 36 on ACT reading section. Shawnee Mission East senior Jacob Martin scored a perfect 36 on the reading section of the ACT college entrance exam. He got a congratulatory shout out on the SME Twitter feed.
