The Electronics Store, a new shop dedicated to a unique consumer-oriented product line and accessories, has opened in Mission.
James Brown, 25, said the business at 6009 Johnson Dr. is the fulfillment of a longtime ambition to deliver something special in the crowded world of consumer electronics retailers.
“I’ve been doing this since I turned 18,” he said. “I like electronics and wanted to create something a little bit different by focusing on lifestyle electronics.”
His shop has a wide variety of personal products including GPS devices, smartphones, surveillance systems, hover boards, Bluetooth speakers, computers, wireless headphones, ear buds and other devices. Brown said he can offer lower prices because he’s the sole proprietor and employee.
“We work directly with manufacturers. A lot of those other stores mark up products crazy high,” he said. “We have a low overhead. If you walk into a Radio Shack or Walmart you pay around $30 for an HDMI cable. We sell them for $6.”
Brown also offers a 30-day guarantee on having the lowest price.
In addition to consumer gadgets, he offers a wide variety of cables and accessories that might be difficult to find. And if he doesn’t have it in stock, he will order it for customers. He can do repair work as well for computers and iPhones.
“Big stores don’t offer customer service,” he said. “When I walk into a Walmart and go to their electronics section, they literally know nothing. If customers need help here, I’m going to guarantee they’re happy and satisfied.”
