Transformer fire in Merriam causes power outage. A power transformer at Shawnee Mission Parkway and Ikea Way in Merriam caught fire Sunday evening, leading to a power outage that affected several dozen homes in the area.

Westwood mayor hosts holiday tree lighting this Thursday. The Westwood Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting is scheduled for this Thursday at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Santa will be meeting with children to hear holiday wishes and light refreshments will be served.
