Two Shawnee Mission East students sign to play Division I tennis

Shawnee Mission East seniors Alex Brown and Brady Draheim will continue their tennis careers at Illinois and Wake Forest, respectively.

The duo hasn’t played for the Lancers, but instead for the Kansas City United Tennis academy.

Brown, who moved to Kansas City from Urbandale, Iowa, is currently the No. 13 ranking in the nation.

As a freshman, he won the Iowa high school singles championship. He was recruited by Harvard, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Texas A&M, Iowa and Michigan

Draheim, who is originally from Omaha, Neb., is ranked 54th.
