Three-time NBA champion LeBron James surprised the Shawnee Mission North boy’s basketball team on Tuesday afternoon with a video congratulating the Indians on their first state title in 63 years.

The note read:

Indians,

Now what’s it gonna take to do it again?
The squad is new, but the prize ain’t changed.
You got what it takes to stay at the top.
Don’t just beleive it.
Expect it.
I’ll be watching.

-LeBron

SM North’s 2016-17 team huddled in a classroom while they watched a message from James saying how he’ll be watching them every step of the way this season. But that wasn’t all as James also sent every player a pair of his new Soldier 10 shoes. The school cleared it with KSHAA to make sure eligibility wouldn’t be compromised, however, the school will issue the shoes to the players and then sell them back to the players once their eligibility has been used up.
