Mission and BikeWalkKC hosting Handlebar Happy Hour & Bike Drive this Thursday. Bicycle enthusiasts and anyone interested in riding are invited to a happy hour at The Bar, 6102 Johnson Dr. this Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The event hosted by Mission and BikeWalkKC is described as a great networking opportunity for cyclists and anyone else. Bike donations will be accepted. Donated bikes will be cleaned and repaired, and either given to the City’s adopted families at the holidays, or used through BikeWalkKC’s Earn-A-Bikeprogram. Donations are tax-deductible. You may also drop off your donated bike at the Sylvester Powell, Jr. Community Center (north parking lot) on Nov. 17th from 8 a.m. to noon.

Open house planned for proposed changes to Mission sign ordinance. The City of Mission will hold open houses this Thursday from 8-9 a.m. and Nov. 16 from 5:30-6:30 pm. at the Sylvester Powell Jr. Community Center, 6200 Martway St., to seek community comment on proposed changes to the city sign ordinance. The ordinance regulates all private signs in Mission. Staff will give a brief overview of the proposed changes and answer questions. The Planning Commission will have a public hearing Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Roeland Park looking for volunteers. Roeland Park has volunteer positions on the Arts Committee, Board of Zoning Appeals, Events Committee, Parks Committee and Planning and Sustainability Committee.
