Class 6A and 4-1A state soccer semifinals kickoff tonight. Shawnee Mission East will kickoff at 5 p.m., against undefeated Dodge City at Wichita South, while Bishop Miege plays at 7 p.m., against Louisburg at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka. Johnson County Chamber to host ribbon cutting for new dance academy Thursday. The Northeast Johnson County Chamber will welcome the Ovation Dance Academy, a new dance studio in Mission, this Thursday at a 4 p.m. ribbon cutting. The studio 5325 Johnson Dr. offers classes for students from 3 to adult. Refreshments will be served.

Prairie Village City Council to hold hearing Monday on request for improved barrier along 75th Street. The Prairie Village Council will hold a hearing at its regular meeting Monday on a request by the owners of 7426 Rosewood Circle for a better barricade along 75th Street. They are requesting a concrete barrier with a pedestrian railing to replace the current chain-link fence to prevent cars from accidentally running off the busy 75th Street corridor.

American Business Women’s Association names Jennie Darby district vice president. The American Business Women’s Associated elected Jennie Darby of Farmers Insurance at 6405 Metcalf Ave. in Mission to be district vice president. Darby was chosen during the group’s 67th National Women’s Leadership Conference in Chattanooga, Tenn.
