Early morning burglary by 2 armed men shocks Prairie Village residents in their bedroom

Two armed men broke into a home in the 6800 block of Granada Road early this morning, confronting the residents in their bedroom and ultimately fleeing the house with stolen items. No one was injured.

Prairie Village Police Capt. Wes Lovett said late this morning that a preliminary investigation has led police to believe the armed burglary was an “isolated incident. The neighbors in the surrounding area should feel safe.”

The incident was reported at 4:21 a.m., according to police. The residents say they were startled when two men wearing masks and armed with handguns entered their bedroom. The men stole items from the residence, including a handgun, before fleeing.

The men were described as white males, about 5-foot-10 to 6-foot tall, thin builds, wearing black ski masks, dark hooded sweatshirts and clear latex gloves. There was no information on their vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information to call the department at 913-642-5151 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
