A Roeland Park resident is facing a potential fine from the city on account of a large display of political signs that violates city code.

The home at 55th Street and Ash at one point had more than two dozen political signs along its front and side yards. While a few were for Kansas candidates like Kevin Yoder and Jerry Moran, the majority promoted presidential candidate Donald Trump. Most were the standard Trump campaign sign, but a few were less-frequently-seen or hand made items. One read, “Trump: Finally Someone With Balls.” Another features a standup cutout of Hillary Clinton with photos of the four men killed in the Benghazi attacks attached to her:

Roeland Park code restricts homeowners to displaying a maximum of three temporary signs of three square feet or less in the period prior to an election. Roeland Park Assistant City Administrator Jennifer Jones-Lacy said the city had notified the homeowner his display did not meet city code.

“The homeowner has been notified that he is in violation of our sign ordinance and it is in process of enforcement,” Jones-Lacy said. “Any fines would [be] determine by the municipal judge…”

City code allows for a fine of up to $500 for such a violation.
