Mission salon receives national recognition for its sustainable approach to renovation. Salon Bearde at 5616 Johnson Dr. has been named Salon of the Month by Beauty Launchpad, a nationally distributed magazine covering the salon industry. The publication recognized Bearde for a major renovation project completed last year that utilized materials salvaged from a 100 year-old barn. The metal roof was used to panel the walls and boards form benches, counters and other furnishings. “The one-of-a-kind result: Oxidized barn tin and wood, sporting enviably time-worn colors and textures,” the magazine stated. Michael Bearde, who co-owns the business with is wife Jenna, described the recognition as a “true honor. It’s something near and dear to our heart, to find a barn, purchase it and bring it to life. It’s special for me in Mission, Kansas.”
