Village Shops, Corinth Square to host annual Trick-or-Treating. If it’s Halloween in northeast Johnson County, you can be sure that Corinth Square and the Village Shops will be packed with families making the trick-or-treating rounds to local merchants. Both shopping centers will have trick-or-treating from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday.
Petition drive asks Shawnee Mission School District to give students the day off after Halloween. An online petition with more than 5,300 signatures is asking the Shawnee Mission School District to give students the day off Tuesday. “This would be convenient because, students will obviously be up late trick or treating or hanging with friends and want a break the next day. If we did have school the day after, students would be tired and wouldn’t be productive,” the petition states. It was started by Stella Jameson, a student at Indian Hills Middle School, but it was a trick trying to reach her for comment.
Kansas State selects student from Prairie Village to be Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry ambassador. Sydney Edmisten has been selected to be one of six ambassadors for the Office of Research & Creative Inquiry at Kansas State University for the 2016-17 academic year. Edmisten is a senior majoring in psychology and pre-med. The program brings together undergrads who make presentations to classes, student groups and other organizations. Ambassadors explain the benefits of undergraduate research and creative inquiry, and steps to get involved at Kansas State.
Roeland Park City Council to hold special meeting Tuesday. The Roeland Park City Council is holding a special call meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 4600 W. 51st St. The council plans to hold an executive session to discuss a personnel matter.
