RideKC offering free transportation on Election Day

KCATA to offer free bus and paratransit service on Election Day. Kansas City area leaders held a press conference Monday announcing that KCATA will be offering free RideKC route fares all day Tuesday, Nov. 8 to ensure anyone who wants to vote has an easy way to get to the polls. Johnson County Commissioner Steve Klika, who is the chair of the KCATA Board of Commissioners, was among the local elected officials to help make the announcement.

Shawnee Mission Medical Center receives highest ranking on Medicare and Medicaid website. The Shawnee Mission Medical Center has earned five stars from The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ new Hospital Compare website, the highest possible rating, according to a release from the hospital. SM Medical Center is the only hospital in the Kansas City metropolitan area to be awarded five stars. Only 112 of the 3,693 U.S. hospitals surveyed achieved the full five-star rating.

Shawnee Mission West PTSA to host candidate forum Wednesday. The SM West Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is holding a forum for Kansas House and Kansas Senate candidates Wednesday at 7:00pm at SM West High School. Candidates running in House Districts 14, 17, 22 and 23, and in Senate Districts 8 and 21 are expected to attend. The public is encouraged to attend.

EdgeJC holding morning get together this Thursday. EdgeJC, a group sponsored by the Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, is holding an open networking and breakfast event for young professions at the McDonald’s in Merriam, 8915 Johnson Dr. The gathering starts at 8 a.m.
