Mission Hills mayor spurring effort to reconnect area Eagle Scouts

Mission Hills Mayor Rick Boeshaar’s history of public service started early in his life — he earned his Eagle Scout rank from the Boy Scouts of America as a high schooler.

Now, Boesharr and a group of area Eagle Scouts are trying to make sure Eagle Scouts throughout the region can stay in touch long after earning the group’s highest achievement. He recently penned a message to Heart of America Council members encouraging them to register in the group’s alumni database:

Once an Eagle Scout, Always an Eagle Scout! Right!?! So why are we calling this an Alumni Association? Because we want to reach out to people who were Scouts and who may not be active right now. We also want to stay in touch with Scouts who may be involved in a Troop now, but have earned their Eagle rank and may be off to college or the military or a job in the next couple years and would not be as active then. The Alumni Association will be a source of information about what is going on in Scouting and a way to stay in touch with friends. We hope you will click on the link to join. It costs nothing! We will post our events and you may choose to attend or not. There are over 35,000 Eagle Scouts living in the Kansas City area. You probably know several of them. Send them a post, or a text, or some other shout out and ask them to join with you!

Scouts can register on the alumni page here.
