Last Week: 3-0
Season: 3-0

Olathe South (2-5) at Shawnee Mission North (4-3)
The last time the Indians won five games in a season, we have to go back to 2004 when they went 5-4. It also marked the last season SM North defeated SM Northwest, something it did last week. There’s a good chance SM North gets to the five-win mark, putting it in position for a high seed for the Class 6A playoffs, which begin next week. Olathe South has been sliding the past two seasons. We know SM North’s offense can put up numbers with Will Schneider under center and Marcos Garcia in the backfield. They shouldn’t have a problem against the Falcons, who give up some lopsided numbers. The game will be determined by the Indians defense. If they can make some stops, they’ll come out on top.

Shawnee Mission East (6-1) at Shawnee Mission West (5-2)
The Lancers have already clinched a share of the Sunflower League title with their win in Lawrence last week, but they can win it outright with a victory against SM West, who look to play spoiler. A Lancer loss means they’ll share the title with their opponents and the winner of Free State/Lawrence. It would be an upset if SM West wins and I’d be shocked. SM East’s offense is too powerful and the defense is too stout. SM East running back Nigil Houston should be good for a big touchdown run, which seems like a weekly occurrence for him.

Bishop Miege (6-1) at De Soto (6-1)
De Soto needed four quarterbacks last week to defeat Spring Hill 14-13. The Wildcats could use four more and it still won’t matter; Miege is too good. Do not be surprised if this gets out of hand before halftime — the last two weeks have. It will give coach Jon Holmes a chance to rest his starters and give some quality reps to the backups.
