The idea for Dottie’s Southern Chic Boot-ique began with a simple search for some fancy boots and the cherished memory of a woman who knew how to dress for any occasion.
Matt Mitchell, the co-founder, said his wife Jeannie was looking for a pair of crystal-crusted boots and discovered the ones available cost thousands of dollars.
So she decided to begin designing them for herself. Her products became so popular the couple have decided to open their first retail store in the Corinth Shopping Center. It should be ready for customers by Thanksgiving.
“We call the style ‘Southern Chic,'” he said. “It’s not all Western wear or cowgirls. It’s what you’d wear for a night on the town or out for a country music concert.”
And then there’s Dottie, Jeannie’s late mother. Matt said Dottie knew how to dress for any outing, from fishing to a fancy party.
“She was one of the nicest women you’d ever meet,” he said. “The business is in her honor. We’re using her signature as our logo.”
The store opening is a natural follow-up to the success their products have enjoyed whenever they’ve been offered for sale.
Mitchell said the business has an avid Facebook following and people have flocked to their Lee’s Summit warehouse. They’ve were popular at last year’s Holiday Mart as well.
Besides those fancy boots, the product line includes clothing, accessories, handbags and jewelry
“We want girls to feel pampered,” Mitchell said.
Dottie’s will be taking the space formerly occupied by Wild Bird Center.
